UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

In the first step of a re-count Paul Buccellato has called for a check on the absentee ballots. So folks, in the words of Yogi Berra, that great Yankee player, IT AIN'T OVER TILL IT'S OVER!

More to follow.......

You're forgetting about provisional ballots - county clerk will be counting those over the next few days. It is far too early for anyone to call this ridiculously ludicrous race. The choice between two morons is obviously a very difficult one!

Glad to see the use of adjectives it adds to the character of this Blog. As you have such a low opinion of the candidates, which one of the "morons" (your words)did you vote for or were you one of the write in candidates? You seem to know about provisional ballots, you must be politically involved.

I was told the absentee ballots have already been counted. The county still needs to check and certify those provisional ballots to officially name a winner. I don't believe Paul has filed a request for a recount yet.

The provisionals are in the process of being certified. The final results are pending. Unfamiliar with the process. Don't know what Aufseeser or Buccellato's next step would be.

No, I'm not politically involved - lord knows why anyone would willing place themselves into the chaos that is Matawan's three-ring (oh, excuse me ... only two parties so two-ring) governmental circus.

I'm just a very informed person who cares about the voting process. Unlike many who think it is pointless to vote when you hate the candidiates, I ALWAYS vote, even when I have to write in my dad or my spouse or myself to prove a point to those who run. I've done it for Matawan's Mayor, but also for governor and senator.

I'm sure no one really cares how I vote (though in this case I guess my vote really DID influence the outcome), but a write-in is one quick way to show support for the process of voting while simultaneously showing my dissatisfcation with the candidates.

Good luck to both candidates. It's an unbelievably tough job for almost no pay, not exactly an ideal job description!

Also, to anonymous, calling both candidates (one being your sitting mayor) "morons" is not exactly constructive, but obviously you didn't intend to be.
