Matawan Borough Workshop Meeting 2-3-09 @ 7pm

The Agenda for this Workshop meeting includes:

2. Towing Ordinance Revision
3. Deputy Court Clerk -Full time v. Part time
4. Ordinance Prohibiting Elected Officials from Municipal Work
5. Discussion of Municipal Vehicles Taken Home by Municipal Employees
6. Tree removal on Vermont Court
7. Discussion of Pension Deferment
8. Discussion of Shared Services - Grass Cutting

Ordinance Prohibiting Elected Officials from Municipal Work - This sounds like a start for a Pay to Play Ordinance in Matawan. Hope it has teeth to it. Will this include family owned businesses?
Curious to see what the Towing Ordinance Revision is all about.

This could be the start of dealing with the economic crisis we all are facing.

Matawan Borough Workshop Meeting 1-6-09 @ 7pm

The first Workshop meeting for the Matawan Borough Council will be held Tues., 1-6-09 at 7pm. The Agenda has not been published on the Borough website.

The Organization Meeting was held on 1-1-09. Mayor Buccellato made his appointments to various Committees.

Notable appointments:

Borough Attorney: Pasquale Menna, Esq., Menna, Supko & Nelson, LLC
Borough Engineer: Robert Keady, P.E., T & M Associates

Resolutions(new business):

Award of Emergency Contract for the Installation of Four HVAC Units - 150 Main St.
Awarded to Able Mechanical who submitted the lowest quote of $88,608.

Appointment of Michael Calimina of the MAC Group as Health Insurance Broker of Record.

Appointment of Insurance Design Administrators as Borough of Matawan 2009 Health Plan Administrator.

Jean Monfort, Borough Clerk, read the Mayor's Veto of Ordinance 08-07, Responsible Contractor's Ordinance, into the record. Discussion, if any, on this veto will be discussed at the Jan. 20, 2009 Borough Council meeting.

We look forward to this Council working together and making progress in lieu of political maneuvering. We wish our newest Council members good luck.

Two items of interest are the 2008 Budget and 2008 Road Program.

Interested in hearing the Council's plan for the deficit. Where will get the money which is approaching $500,000+/-.

Opposed to the expanded 2008 Road Program at this time. Interested in costs of same to the taxpayer. Under the current financial circumstances Nationwide, the fact NJ State, several NJ Counties and NYC (which has a much larger tax base) are all cutting back on their Road Program due to the high cost of asphalt. Again what will the cost to taxpayers be and can taxpayers afford any increase in taxes.

The Democratic majority Council has already passed the Highest Tax Rate Increases of 26% from 2006-2008. And Bunyon and Malley want us to vote to keep them on Council? Do they think we are stupid or crazy?
