We are not alone

As a long time fan of the blog, the Aberdeener, we were reading under the title, "Property Revals Redux" comments on Matawan. It is refreshing to read others are aware of the nonsense going on in Matawan. Aberdeen will be going through Revaluations as Matawan has and the residents are concerned.

If you have a minute check out the Aberdeener Blog on Google.

In November, there is an independent candidate running for Matawan Borough Council. His name is Denis Brady. Where can I learn about Denis' thoughts and opinions? Have you seen any literature about him?

Thanks
Jose

Let us preface this by saying, we think Independents take votes away from Republican and Democratic candidates, thus unbalancing the election. That being said...

Yes there is an Independent candidate named Dennis Brady. The only thing we find on him is mention of a statement he made to the NJ Turnpike Authority re toll increases.

We request Mr. Brady or anyone who has access to his vision for Matawan to forward literature to us and we will print it.

Considering how little the Republicans and Democrats in the past 10 years work together in Matawan, I think that an independent candidate could be healthy for Matawan.

I wish they would stop voting along party lines and work on the issues.

Jose, We agree with you in that we would like to see the Borough Council work together in the best interests of Matawan.

Votes for Independent candidates are symbolic. Without financial backing a candidate such as Dennis Brady, doesn't have a chance. Have you found any literature on him? Has he walked Matawan telling people what his platform is all about? We have not seen him at many Council meetings.

At this point, we support Joe Urbano and Tom Fitzsimmons for Borough Council. Speaking with them, reading their literature, it is our position they will bring accountability to Matawan. Mayor Buccellato would be able to move Matawan forward with Urbano and Fitzsimmons.

The lack of transparency in our majority Democratic Council, the lack of financial responsibility, Council members performing work for the Borough and receiving payment are just a few problems witnessed. Matawan is already dealing with a deficit in our 2009 Budget. This is not acceptable.

Thanks for your comments Jose.

Lets sell Gravelly Park, no one uses it and the revenue generated would be beneficial to everyone.

Unfortunately, the only things that I have seen about Denis Brady have been in the APPress and the Independent.
