Check out the Blogger, Voice of Reason
Barry Goldwater, Blogger for "Voice of Reason" has an excellent blog on Matawan Democrats. Finally, others noticed there has been no accountability in Matawan under the Democratic majority. Yes, Barry, it is time for Council members, who care about Matawan and not their "personal" agendas. We also support Joe Urbano and Tom Fitzimmons for Borough Council. They are the best people for the job.

Ok so how do you get the word out? The last few years I have seen nothing but slander flyers and such against the Republicans. When are the Republicans going to do the same to the Democrats? They can not hold anything back. This is the only way people will find out the facts.
Main Street Manny: The past Republican administrations have "BONDED" The borough into a debt that will take years to pay off, of course Advocate can't admit that, keeps trying to put the blame on the present Council. OH , lets not bring that up,I keep forgetting.. If you talk to any of the "old" republicans in the borough, they will tell you, they voted Democrated two elections ago to get rid of 40 years of mismanagement!!
Main St Manny, It is better to take the high ground. If you notice Fitzsimmons & Urbano have not resorted to putting up those big obtrusive signs that have polluted Matawan. Nor have they put signs on Borough/County property as Malley & Bunyon have done. The cost to the taxpayers to remove the signs by the Dept of Public Works employees should be reimbursed by the Democratic Party.
The fact that the Borough under Democratic control has been at a deficit for 2 years in a row, Mullaney tells Bunyon and Malley what to say, do and vote. Neither Bunyon or Malley have one of those big ugly signs on their property. But the poor homeowner across the street from the Community Center does. Our question is why homeowners allow those big ugly signs (one homeowner has 2) on their property?
Fitzsimmons & Urbano are talking issues, not lies.
If residents don't realize their taxes have gone up and will continue to rise while the Democrats are the majority then so be it.
You can fool some of the people some of the time, but, you can't fool all of the people all of the time.
Thanks Main St Manny for your comments.
Anonymous, Let us see if we understand you correctly..the past Republican administrations caused the deficit in Matawan's Budget for the last two years? Are you kidding. The current Democratic majority doesn't know how to be financially prudent and continues to spend even when the entire Country is headed towards a deep recession.
The 2008 Road Program is not even bonded for yet and it is debatable whether we can get bonding. The Mayor did take a stand and make the bonding be in place prior to an award to any Contractor. Are you telling us that you believe Bunyon & Malley resolved the lawsuit Silver Oaks v. Matawan? You have been reading too much of their "fantasy" bibiographical flyers. Come on now logic, which we see very little of at Council meetings, dictates NJS Court system, judged the case on its lack of merit. Bunyon and Malley would have you believe they singlehandedly got the case resolved. Baloney!! Bet you have one of those big signs in front of your house.
I am not fond of all the signs and I do feel they are tacky but I do think Fitzsimmons and Urbano need to somehow reiterate just how fiscally irresponsible the current council has been and to be honest, I personally wouldn't mind having a Fitzsimmons and Urbano sign on my lawn along with some examples of just how fiscally irresponsible the current council has been. I can't believe I just said that but I'm that frustrated and I'd like to stay in Matawan and not be driven away by the property taxes. I did get the flyer yesterday but I honestly don't think it's enough to make people "wake up" and vote with their wallets and their common sense. From a marketing standpoint, Bunyon and Malley's names plastered all over town gives them name recognition and to an undecided or uninformed voter, they may wind up voting for Bunyon and Malley on the basis of name recognition alone, not realizing the dire consequences of their actions. The residents of Matawan simply cannot afford to have the current concil voted back in and somehow the residents need to know this. Just my two cents...
So if the past Republican adminstrations "Bonded" the borough into a debt then why is the Democratic administrations continuing to bond when the borough is basically going "Bankcrupt"? Yes bankcrupt, if a borough this small can be in the negative 2 years in a row that is exactly what they are headed for. The main reason in my eyes for the "old" republicans in the borough voting Democratic for those elections is because of the bus loads that certain Democrats running drove to vote. I am sure some of these "old" republicans were convinced that this democrat was the one to vote for during these rides. Yes the "old" Republican's turned Democrat when they didnt get their way is who I am refering too.
Main St. Manny, you are right on the money. Bunyon wasn't even voted into office, he was appointed. After Bunyon voted no to the Recreation Resolution he had insisted on,(due to Mullaney) we knew he wasn't his own man. Bunyon wasted lawyer fees and the Council's time (our money)and after all that he decided to vote no on his own Resolution! And they want us to believe Bunyon and Malley want to save us money. HA!
Anonymous 2, Matawan's Planning & Zoning Board failed us when it comes to the political signage. We hope to see a signage ordinance next year.
Having seen all candidates for Council's flyers, we have to say Fitzsimmons & Urbano have been truthful. Malley and Bunyon have lied claiming and we quote, "Democratic Councilman Bunyon after a few short months in office, and Democratic Councilman Malley were able to lead the Redevelopment Committee out of litigation," That is a bald faced lie.
Fitzsimmons and Urbano want to eliminate the unauthorized municipal spending. They agree with Mayor Buccellato and Councilwoman Clifton's ideas on accountability for Matawan's Budget. They share a vision for moving forward with a Main Street Revitalization Plan and signage ordinance. Ironically, Councilman Malley claimed never to receive the taxpayer funded, Beacon Surveyers Study Report for Main St.. when then Mayor Aufseeser and Councilman Mullaney claimed to be the only members on Council to have received it 8 months prior. That one was pushed under the rug.
With Malley and Bunyon on Council, this year alone they have overspent a projected deficit of $400,000+. Voted to pay invoices on unauthorized spending. Malley and Bunyon voted to retain the State Democratic Committee Attorney as Borough Redevelopment Attorney and a new Re-Development Planner. They wasted $31,000. of our tax dollars. Still don't know what was done for the fees as nothing happened with the Redevelopment until 2008. To add insult to injury, the previous attorney and planner were appointed by the Democratic Council and replaced after Aufseeser lost the election. Oh and let's not forget that same attorney represented the Democratic Party Candidate Mike Cannon in his bid to replace Bob Bunyon (the same one who was then appointed Councilman after Councilwoman Meghan Mullaney decided to announce she wasn't living in Matawan after Bunyon lost the election) when Bunyon dropped out at the last minute. Sounds like the Kevin Bacon game all roads lead to Mullaney and then to Scudiery. Another lawsuit the Borough had to defend. And the hits keep coming. This is just a brief synopsis of what has gone on in Matawan.
Sorry for the long comments, we are very passionate about what is going on in Matawan. Most of us can't afford another year of Democratic control.
Thanks for your comments Anonymous.
I see that there are political signs on school property and on Rose Hill property. Isn't that illegal? Oh, I forgot, Mr. Mullaney is head of Mullaneyville.
Matawan Borough Dept of Public Works is removing any signs on Borough property. They have already removed signs by the Lake and along Aerdeen Road. We taxpayers are footing the bill for removal. The Democratic Party Chairman of Matawan knows better. They should have to reimburse the Borough. Goes to show you how desperate they are to win.
Malley and Bunyon also have signs on Monmouth County property.
I think all the signs should be collected and counted. Then, they should be fined for littering for each sign and every sign collected. They are not fiscally responsible with our tax dollars nor are they following the local ordinance and they need to be held accountable.
