Were the fireworks different this year? They didn't seem as big and beautiful as years past.
Ps, thanks to the power struggle between the MBPD and MBFD, I will be receiving a ticket in the mail for sparklers. Come on boys, get it together!!!

All the firework displays were not high enough for all to see. If you were at the Church or by the Recreation Bldg. on Ravine Drive, those seem to be the "primo" spots. Reports from the area of the Presbyterian Church were that the display was better than last year. Unfortunately, lower Ravine Drive did not see the lower fireworks. Due to complaints in previous years the fireworks have been revamp. Think it was pretty incredible and the sighs from the children were outstanding. Thanks to Liz Aguilar, Recreation Director and her assistants for their hardwork. A special Thank You to the Presbyterian Church for allowing the Borough to use their property.

Sorry to hear about the sparkler ticket. However, if it is against the law to have sparklers, then the MBPD and MBFD did their jobs. If someone was injured the oneous would be on them for not doing their jobs.

What we noticed was people bringing their dogs to the event. Admittedly, the dogs were well behaved. However, it was not a good idea to have heat, children, adults, fireworks and food all at the same event. That was a public safety issue. As a matter of fact, we witnessed a dog dumping right by a fire truck. Now that was disgusting!

All in all, from the people we spoke to everyone loved the fireworks display. Thanks to the Borough Council for not taking this wonderful Matawan tradition away.
